Large bronze statue of an Enuch, Benin City region, Nigeria
OverviewStrikingly beautiful large bronze statue! this enuch from the court surrounding King Oba from Benin City. An enuch is a castrated male who was employed by the royal courts and could perform a wide range of functions. The fact that he carries no weapons illustrates that he was close to the king. Various chains around the neck, but above all a beautiful varied patina! The statue is delicately cast using the lost wax method, cire perdue. This makes it a one-off, a unique piece of which no two are exactly the same.
The statue has a very strong appearance with a beautiful head and a well-developed body. Good condition! see the photos!
