Large protection statue of the FON, Benin, ca 1970
OverviewInvasive protection fetish of the Fon. An image with bells and whistles, so to speak. Large, a necklace and a chain around the waist with cowrie shells and wrapped in starched cloth on the belly metal sleeves and a bottle in the shun. Traces of libitations with various liquids and some tukula are also visible. Yet I think that this is an image that has not been used tribally. Just to be sure, a trade art price!! In any case, an image with character and appearance. Take a closer look at the size! Good condition! The statue is placed on a base.
