Very old tribal fetish statue, YAKA, DR Congo, 1920-30

Very old tribal fetish statue of the Yaka from DR Congo. Stylistically very strong appearance! The statue is smeared with tukula powder and probably has a charge on the belly, covered with a piece of glass, 2 bags filled with secret ingredients. These are put in by a nganga who also blesses the statue and thus gives it its power. A nganga is a kind of shaman. There is a knocker attached to the statue to knock on it. Furthermore, some natural fibers such as the trousers, for example. The patina is convincing and matches intensive use and age. This image has been used to ask for protection in various situations.
