Old head mask, EJAGHAM, EKOÏ, Cameroon, ca 1970

Large old head mask of the Ejagham/Ekoï from Cameroon. A dance mask that was worn on top of the head. The head is made of wood as a base and covered with antelope leather. Lots of depth, grotesque facial features, dreadlocks made of natural fibers and pigments. The head flows into a collar of woven rattan. The mask certainly has some age but is in good condition. It is placed on a base. See the pictures!
