Stylistically beautiful statue, this fertility statue of the Zaramo. In their culture and language it is called a Mwana Hiti statue. It was played with as a doll, but the doll was also often cared for as if it were a baby. Girls were given these dolls in preparation for their later role as mothers or they were carried to promote fertility. Small chip on bottom but overall good condition. See the pictures.
