Extremely rare! Fang container, Gabon, 1800 - 1850 !!

Extremely rare object, this container made of bark from the Fang from Gabon. Bones such as a jaw piece or smaller bone of an ancestor were probably kept in this container. It is a side container with a larger one where larger remnants were kept and where often a statue or a reliquary stood on top. This is truly a museum piece!! of this age you will come across them at most once in 20-30 years if they are still offered ... Are often already in a museum or in a renowned private collection.
