Medium sized statue of the YAKA, DR Congo, 1960-70

Medium sized image of the Yaka from the DR Congo. Beautifully carved statue with a serene appearance; comes from the expression of the face as well as from the hands resting on the top of the chest. Impressive headdress and a warm medium brown color with a slight sheen. You can see the quality, especially in the face, where the eyes, nose and mouth, but also the framing around the face are beautifully carved. Few insect holes are uninhabited. Good state.
