Tribal necklace, priest collar, PALANPAGANG, Ifugao, Philippines
Tribal necklace named Palanpagang. It is a priest collar, always composed out of (sometimes big) crafted pieces of pearl. The necklace has six pieces of pearl of large size. These necklaces are worn by men of the Ifugao and Kalinga tribes. The pieces of pearl show different colours, depending on the angle with which you look at them. The pieces of pearl are sometimes uncrafted like this one; others wear a single string with fine engraving or multiple lines with a particularly fine engraving. See my other Ifugao objects. The chord is made of braided rotan. This necklace is currently in good condition.
