Special bronze relic statue. KOTA, Gabon, approx. 1980
Exquisitely shapen this bronze relic statue of the KOTA tribe from Gabon. Statues like these play a role in burial rituals. This is a unique piece, made by means of the method of "lost wax", "cire perdue", in which the mould is lost during the moulding process. It can be seen that this is a high-quality statue by looking at the open parts on the backside, which nonetheless form one whole with the rest of the statue. The photos speak for themselves. This statue, while showing some traces of use and aging, is in good condition.
