Authentic, old tribal bronze NTADI, BACONGO, D.R. Congo, approx. 1920
NTADI bronze statue of the BACONGO tribe from the D.R. Congo. There are about 20 different versions of Ntadi statues. Many copies have also been made. However, this statue is guaranteed(!) to be an authentic and really old piece. Ntadi, also known as Ntandi or Mintandi, were used as grave statues, though they also served as a consultant indoors, in case of lengthy absence of someone, or when someone passed away. The statue shows how the person who is represented wants to be seen. In this case, the big snake symbolizes the pursuit of harmony and piece inside the community. Good condition with slight traces of use and aging. The stand comes with the delivery.
