GREAT! Big, tribal fertility statue, FON tribe, Benin, approx. 1950
GREAT! Humongous, aged, tribally used fertility statue of the FON tribe from Benin. Masculine statue, full of traces of ritual use. Parts of cloth are visible on the upper body. On and under the belly there is some sort of ball, braided of natural fibres, and filled with cotton and ingredients that are supposed to stimulate fertility. Age and intensive use give great power and a phenomenal appearance to this statue. Taking into account above-mentioned traces of use, this statue is in good condition. The statue is neatly mounted on a stand.
