Superb, small sacrificial statue, BAULE tribe, Ivory Coast, 1960s
Spectacularly sculpted, smaller sacrificial statue of a woman of the BAULE tribe from Ivory Coast. Stylistically superb! She is sitting, holding a sacrificial bowl in her hands. Proud, with a straight back and a peaceful appearance. The breasts are pointing forwards convincingly, signifying fertility. Deep, flatly shining patina. With slight traces of use and aging, it is in good condition.
