Old, authentic facial mask, LUKWAKONGO, D.R. Congo, approx. 1950
Simplicity and a powerful appearance go hand in hand in this authentic, tribal facial mask of the LUKWAKONGO tribe from the D.R. Congo. The white kaolin colouring that underlines the peacefulness of this mask is still present to a high degree. A long-stretched face with a somewhat protruding forehead in a soft-brown, mixed tint, a sharp, pointy nose, and a tiny oval mouth. The eyes lie particularly deeply against the nose and show stylistic similarities to the Lega. Although wear is visible, this mask is in an overall good condition.
