This unique wooden statue from Nepal depicts a figure in the Namaskara Mudra, the traditional gesture of greeting in which the hands are joined in prayer position at the chest. This mudra symbolizes respect, devotion, and the recognition of the divine essence within oneself and others. The gesture is globally recognized as the spiritual greeting Namasté.

Carved from solid hardwood, the piece has a raw, natural presence. Signs of oxidation in the wood indicate that it dates from before 1950. The deep grain and rough texture give it an authentic, archaic charm. The head may have been recarved at a later stage, while the protrusion on top might once have held ornaments or jewelry, underlining its possible ceremonial function.
