More information about a shamanic drum:

The shaman drum of the Chepang people of the Mahabharat Mountains in central Nepal is a sacred instrument with deep spiritual significance. It is traditionally used by shamans, known as pande, during rituals for healing, communicating with spirits and guiding souls to the afterlife. The drum, often oval or crescent-shaped, is made by hand from wood and animal skin, usually from goats. The rhythm of the drum serves as a bridge between the physical world and the spiritual dimension. During trance rituals, the sound helps the shaman enter an altered state of consciousness. The drum is sometimes decorated with symbols that offer protection and strength. Making and playing the drum is often surrounded by taboos and initiation rituals. The Chepang shamanic tradition is strongly intertwined with animistic beliefs and ancestor worship. Although this culture is under pressure, the drum remains a powerful symbol of identity and spiritual connection.
